Hello,

I recently replaced the glass on my iphone 3G. Everything is working and looks great except for the touch screen - it will not respond. The phone is currently on and I'm trying to open it back up to reconnect/disconnect the cable ribbons and test. However, I would prefer to do this with the phone off. So I have the following questions:

1)Is there another way to shut off an iphone 3g besides the following: Hold power button then slide to shut off or let the battery run out?

2) Is it safe to disconnect cable ribbons 1, 2, and 3 while the phone is on and test?

3) I've heard that cable ribbon 2 controls both the touch sensor and home button, is this true?

4) Could this be caused by a pocket between the glass and lcd?
