Can't believe this hasn't been posted on the front page yet... It's all over Interwebz, I picked this link as one of many:

Have you tried to write an email, or worse, an essay on an iPad touchscreen? Well, soon that may be exactly how you type on a Macbook laptop.

An Apple patent reveals a new type of laptop where the keyboard is replaced by one giant touchpad. The company describes a “force-sensitive input structure for an electronic device.” The surface would be customizable and could be programmed to include a trackpad and keyboard.

If it has been posted elsewhere, my apologies, I didn't see it anywhere.

Gizmodo doesn't get it. If there was haptic feedback, the experience would be totally different. It may actually be good to write on.

Of course, it could also be awful, but who knows but Apple.

I find that touch typing on the current MacBook is tough enough anyway as you can't blindly feel where the keys are.

If there was a way that they could emulate that with haptic feedback, I'd be really impressed.
