"Touch view to see the entire message" - Is this new?

I was browsing my photos on my iPhone when I received a text message. As usual the pop-up came up, with something extra..

Is this a new feature, I've never seen it before...

Sorry if it is new and already discussed, it is just that whenever I've been browsing I've never seen this.

It must have been a long message. I always get "Close" and "Reply" on the pop-up I'm assuming because the whole message has always fit in the window.

Ah that's probably it, and I just havent noticed it before.
