Hi guys,

I've noticed that TouchID becomes less responsive when it's charging. It wouldn't register a touch at all sometimes when trying to unlock the device.

Running iOS 8.1 on a 6 Plus.

Anyone else getting the same issue?

Thanks

I have seen this issue since the 5S and in fact not just with Touch ID but also with any screen gesture. However, I only experience the problem if the phone is on a work surface which charging and I am using one hand to operate it. If I pick the phone up in my left hand and operate with right hand it all works normally.

I have a lot of electrical noise in my shop and the screen can really not work hardly at all when one tool is running. the 6+ is better then my 5s was.

I have had no problem. Just tried it 3X while on dining room table. Haven't noticed it before either. As long as I place finger correctly on button.

I've notced this as well. Works flawlessly when not being charged though. Definitely a SW bug because the 6 I had before my 6+ did the same thing.

(Using the standard Apple 5W plug & lightning cable)

Are you using a third-party charger? I noticed that when I was using a third-party charger in my car (my car has several standard 2-prong outlets), TouchID would only work intermittently. As soon as I switched to an Apple charger, I never had another issue (I could turn the issue "on and off" by switching back and forth between the non-Apple and Apple charger).

I noticed this as well on my i6. I'm using the charger that came with the phone. When not charging, the Touch ID works flawlessly.

Yes, I'm using a third-party cable (a cheap one off eBay). But it seems others are also experiencing the same issue with the genuine Apple Lightning cable as well.

The problem doesn't occur all the time when on charge but definitely only occurs when it is on the charger.

TouchID works 99% of the time for me when it's not connected to a charger and the Home button is 100% clean and smudge free when I'm using it. So it's definitely not down to a faulty or dirty home button/TouchID sensor on my device.

In addition to my 6+ and the 6 I had before it, my gf's 6 also has less responsive Touch ID when charging. It's gotta be a SW bug

Definitely much better with Apple charger and certified lightning cable, but still somewhat less responsive. I even get phantom touches sometimes on my iPodT5. All my Android devices have always had similar issues.
