My Dad has a 2001 Toyota Camry and he wants to hook his iPod up to it. The tape player part of his car radio stopped working so he can no longer use the Cassette adapter with his iPod. I was looking online and it seems that the only Auxiliary adapters for devices like iPods are about $60 or so. I was looking online and found the pin-out for the CD changer port on the back of the stereo here is the link to the page with the pin-out diagram.

I'm not too bad with a soldering iron so I was wondering if I could just make a cable form the L, R, Ground connections to a stereo input jack. I think it might work, the ground pin would be connected to the cable so the radio knows that something is connected and the L and R audio connections would go to the cable. I might be missing something but, it seems like an easy solution to get my Dad's iPod working in his car without a pricey adapter. So If anybody that knows a little more about car radios than I do could shed some light on this subject that would be great. :)

Thanks :D
