Track laptop location with bluetooth?

A friend of mine had her laptop stolen. I've been doing research to try to find out if it is possible to track it using the bluetooth, especially since we have the Macbook Pro's bluetooth address. I stumbled upon a few things. One that caught my interest was a guy in the Netherlands that managed to track bluetooths in that come in the area of his scanner. We think we know what apartment complex it is in (we have a suspect) but no way to confirm it. I'm trying to figure out if this would this at all be possible, but I'm just not knowledgable enough in the technical aspects of this to figure it out. Can someone help me out?

You can use another machine to scan for the bluetooth, but you'd have to be really close - within about 30 feet.
