I'm just wondering, maybe I haven't found the option yet, but is there a way to control the pan of a track in the same way you can control the volume (with the line graph)?

There is not an option to automate your panning as there is with the volume. Whatever you set with the panning knob stays throught the song.
A small workaround is to move parts of the track to a separate track, then give each track its own panning.

sigh. I guess I could export it, upen it in final cut pro, do some pan effects, export it in stereo and put it back in to garageband.

This is something that is missing. It was on my budget PC package that I was using prior to switching. I'm sure it'll be added for v2.
