Have you been good this year? If so, you may be interested to know that Google has launched its annual Santa tracking feature, allowing Santa to be tracked in real time on his journey to the North Pole as he prepares to deliver presents to children around the world.

Google's Santa Tracker continues a two-decade tradition for the company, allowing excited children (and grown-ups!) to keep up with the jolly gift-giver's travels throughout December 24. On this day, Santa's Village transforms into a tracking experience where children can follow Santa and his reindeer as they merrily go about their important work.

Santa can be tracked using a web browser on iPhone, iPad, or Mac by visiting Google's official Santa Tracking website. The site features a live map of Santa's current location, his next stop, a live video feed of his journey, and the estimated time that he will arrive in each specific location.

The Santa site provides pictures of locations that Santa has already visited, a live count of gifts that have been delivered, and Santa's current distance from your location. There are also a selection of games to play, creative things to do, and videos to watch.

Other Santa tracking services are also available, such as the NORAD Tracks Santa Claus app and website, but Google's site is often the most interactive and detailed. Happy holidays!

Why is Santa wearing a mask?
As established in The Santa Clause, he is mortal.

And he's visiting hundreds (thousands?) of hospitals with sick kids and other vulnerable people. And he's old himself so he has a reduced immune system. Wouldn't want him to pick something up and curse the person who coughed on him in their sleep to being Santa.

=====

As established in The Polar Express, time is malleable and Santa just makes it whatever time he needs it to be to get his job done. This idea of tracking him over time is silly. It's like asking what time it is at the event horizon of a black hole.

As someone who has their own Santa tracker in their app, I agree that there should be a common standard for Santa tracking apps. I hope either Google or NORAD makes an open standard because having all these Santa trackers across the internet say different things can definitely ruin the spirit of Christmas.

Google or Norad? That's a tough choice.

Fun website to use along with NORAD to track Santa. Google's Santa Tracker was more interesting a few years back when they used to start each day in December with a new activity/video. But it is still good enough and fun to see.

It should get local conventions via the IP adress - in most areas of Germany „Santa“ arrives on the 24th at 18:00 - so my little ones were quite disappointed that he was still in Thailand at that time :)

Santa already visited Germany on 6 December to put apples and nuts into the boots of all good kids, so of course he'll be elsewhere on the night of the 24th.
