Hi Everyone,

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post, but I've had an odd week or so trying to fix some problems with my MacBookAir and wanted some more opinions, as my knowledge of MacBooks or computers are next to zero.

Firstly, I had a problem with my trackpad, which wouldn't click, although it was functioning normally otherwise. I took it into a store and they replaced the trackpad, but said that didn't fix the issue. The guy at the store reckons it's the 'connector' of the trackpad which is the issue and this would cost around £130 to be replaced.

I then asked if I could take my Mac back for the time being (until the connector arrives at the store) and use the Mac temporarily with an external mouse. Once I got my MacBook back the keyboard also stopped working. The person at the shop says that the trackpad and keyboard are connected to the same device, hence why both aren't working, is this correct?

Finally, the computer would also shut down completely and not turn back on (even when at 90% charge) the computer will know only turn back on until the battery is reset. I've been quoted £100 for a new battery, is this fair?

I've been told the underlying problem for all this is water-damage, even though I've not spilt any liquid into this computer in the last 3/4 years. I think it's more likely that I dropped the laptop heavily causing the battery to swell?

I should add that this isn't an apple approved store, and I don't particularly have large amounts of confidence in the advice I'm being given, so my underlying question is that do you think the explanation I've been given sound plausible? As on closer inspection, the reviews for this shop are not particularly good.

Final disclaimer, I've never had any issued with my Mac for the last 3/4 years, until I had a problem with the trackpad last week.

Any help much appreciated.
