I have the following One Finger setting for my trackpad (Early 2008 17" MBP);

Tap to Click = Checked
Dragging = Checked
Drag Lock = Unchecked

The problem is that the trackpad behaves as if the "Drag Lock" option was checked when in fact the "Drag Lock" option is Unchecked.
I find this very annoying.

Has anyone experienced this problem? Is there any way to make it stop?

Hello,
I think this is not really a problem: OSX locks the dragging for a while (half a second ?) even if it is not set to Drag Lock. I think this is made to allow to to drag things even in more than one "drag"

To release the drag, you just have to wait a bit longer before putting your finger again on the trackpad.

It was also a bit annoyed by the behaviour but I got quickly used to it ;)

This is happening to me right now, and I don't know what to do.

How did you get to the menu to check and uncheck the options?

You can uncheck the "Drag Lock" in System Preferences under Keyboard & Mouse (Trackpad tab).

Your absolutely right. You actually do have to wait just a bit longer before putting your finger back on the trackpad again.
Now that I know this, I'm beginning to get used to it already. Thanks a lot!

Oh, ok. Thanks. I don't think I have the same problem.

I can't drag at all with my mouse or trackpad. I can't copy and paste either. IDK what is wrong? Any help?

That doesn't sound good. On the upside though, I doesn't sound like a hardware defect since you also can't drag with your mouse.

Are you sure you have set up your mouse and trackpad correctly in System Preferences under Keyboard & Mouse (under the Trackpad tab and under the Mouse tab)?

Also, have you messed around in System Preferences under Universal Acces (under the Keyboard tap and/or under the Mouse & Trackpad tab)?

Have you already tried to repair disk permissions?
