Seems noticeably better. I didn't have a big problem before, but I do notice less hesitation in curser movement and clinking now. Certainly didn't hurt anything.

My trackpad issues had gotten progressively more frequent until the trackpad was almost not useable. This firmware update, so far, seems to have completely fixed the problem.

No glitches at all noticed over here. No cursor sticking or missed clicks at all since updating.

This may be a stupid question, but is this an automatic update, or do I need to get from somewhere?

Thanks

It comes from Software Update. Takes a few minutes, no restart required (although Apple also sent out a Quicktime update around the same time that DOES require a restart)

Never noticed a problem, never did since the update...

the only thing they should update is all those pads in the world that still include those buttons... I can't work with those anymore :D

Click response is much improved since the update.

I also re-enabled the tap-to-click function, which was way too buggy to use before.

This issue was my only gripe with my machine which has been perfect otherwise, and even then I barely noticed it even happening; but now all is well in Late 2008 MBP land for me :p

Just installed it on mine. Never had major issues (maybe an occasional glitch), but I think it's smoother than ever with the update. Sweet.

Well looks like I am the odd one out but it CRASHED OSX it froze and that was that... damn update i didnt need it anyway...... working fine now though

Placebo ?

I think for the majority that's exactly what this is. I think, having no real basis for this conclusion, that the fix only corrected the pad from not registering clicks, and that people thinking the pad is snappier and works faster is just what they want to believe.

Ha. I never really noticed any problem with my pad...but now it seems to be better. Or it's probably just my mind. Placebo for computers. :D

Well, whatever, seems smoother to me which is a good thing, right? ;)
