I try hard to use trackpad of my mbp. I really want it. For many years.
No doubt it is the best on the market.
But I am always failing, in terms of the speed I do my tasks, and precision in many tasks too.
Sometimes I blame myself. Other times I say that 'this is it, the mouse is more practical whatever they say'.
Of course, it is a matter of personal preference.
I really want to make everything with trackpad. It makes my hands feel more comfortable. But, the slow speed and the syndrome 'here I want the pointer, elsewhere it goes-when I have to click somewhere specifically', it forces me to turn back to mouse.

Anybody else with such 'problems'?

Not me I'd choose to use an apple trackpad over a mouse anytime on any computer if I could.

I have been using PC's since green screen days.
Long before mouse, and very long before trackpads.
So my hand/ brain coordination got programmed for mouse.
Still use trackpad for some things.
Younger guys in office use trackpads almost exclusively
Much better for them.
Wish I could retrain brain for trackpad exclusively.

Definitely trackpad. OS X is designed with a multi-touch trackpad in mind. And trackpad is more ergonomical, at least in my experience. I only use mouse for gaming, and even then not for all (mostly shooters).

You need to find tune your settings and learn how to use if. I have none of the problems you listed.
