i have an early 2008 15" MBP.
Recently I noticed an odd problem.
Randomly, while scrolling around web pages in Safari 4 Beta the "pinch open" accidentally makes web pages and text HUGE. I do not make a pinch gesture when this happens. Just a typical drag or scroll.
Then when I attempt to "Pinch closed" to fix it, it gets tiny. I cannot use the "pinch" to get it anywhere in between. Its maximum or minimum size only.

I did a search here, but I have no idea what a 'Terminal command' is, how to do it, or if it will even help me out.

I believe it's a known issue. I had the same problem when I tried out Safari 4 Beta. I went back to Safari 3 because of this and other problems that arose from the upgrade.

Don't get me wrong though, I really liked the Safari 4 Beta, but there were too many bugs to outweigh the benefits. Right now, the Windows version is better...

I honestly can't recall if it started before I started using Safari 4...
