Just got a 16 inch MBP and every so often the trackpad will be blocked from clicking. This seems to be a software issue, something is messing with the functionality. Similar to when you are install Mac OS and it disengages the trackpad. This coincides with a sort of lag on the screen — I think, it's hard to tell. It's been happening enough that it makes using it without a mouse problematic. Has anyone run into this before? Very odd. I don't think there's anything physically wrong, though something physical might of course be triggering the software to turn off clicking.

Other times the trackpad seems way too loose, like it will click at the slightest touch and the cursor gets kind of wobbly.

You're right. In any case, the functionality is shot. I did a full format/reinstall and it seemed to be working fine until just now. I'll try some SMC resets etc. but very weird. Could be software I'm installing but nothing out of the ordinary.

It either clicks insanely easily or won't let me click at all. Has to be software since it comes and goes like this. Or maybe the battery is swollen or something? How would I know?
Remember that there isn't a physical 'click' on that trackpad. The "click" is haptic feedback generated by the computer.
