I have an older Macbook Pro, the A1229, and I just recently replaced the backlit keyboard. Everything went well, except I cannot use the keyboard or trackpad upon startup until I use an external USB or Bluetooth mouse to "wake" (I suppose is a good word to describe) them up. Once I get the cursor moving with the external mouse, the trackpad works fine. Then I open a browser and click somewhere to type in order to activate the keyboard. I have done a few searches and tried to reset the "pram?" I think it's called... What can I do? Thanks!

Hmmm, is this issue really so obscure? Or is it a super simple fix that I am completely overlooking, and no one wants to clue me in? My applecare ran out in January so I really can't take it the Genius at the Apple Store. I guess I can just deal with this little setback. :(
