This is 3 days old and looks just like my 4 year old black macbook trackpad?

my last 17" MBP looked nothing lik this even after 3 months

Have you tried to clean it? If so with what? The glass trackpad is highly wear resistant, Apple advertises that and I've had 2 unibody MBP's with no wear on the trackpads.

It's glass, it should clean pretty easily. You get a microfiber cloth and dampen it with water. If it's more soiled than what water can clean then get 70% alcohol, but no stronger (which is what I use daily and never had a problem) and clean it with the microfiber cloth. It's not worn.

I just returned one for a bad keyboard backlight and while it was winthin 14 days it was like getting blood from a stone at the store even though it was O.K'd by Apple by phone even before I went there.

You haven't mentioned if you're gonna clean the trackpad after my suggestions.

It's glass and will smudge just like a window or the lenses on glasses etc. Clean it, it's not wear.
