iPod touch Tracks that only show up in 'Songs'??

Okay, so the question I'm about to ask may sound a little...dumb, but I'm new to iPods altogether so I'm sorry...^^

Anyway I've recently bought this iTouch/iPod Touch/Whatever You Call It and it works great...apart from one tinsy thing...the songs are on the iPod and they play perfectly it's just then when it comes to selecting them they only appear under 'Songs' rather than 'Artists' and 'Albums' aswell. Does anyone know of a way I could sort it out so that it does?

P.S-I guess I should mention that these songs weren't downloaded from iTunes directly. I used this video-MP3 converter thingy-ma-jig...^^

If you don't have an artist set in the info tag then it won't show up under artists because it doesn't have a place to categorize it at. Same goes for album. If there is a track name, then it will show under songs.
