Trade 867MHz TiBook for 867MHz 12" Powerbook- Good Idea?

So, my friend's brother has offered to trade his 12" PowerBook G4/867 for my 15" TiBook/867.

Mine:
768MB RAM
AP
30 min battery
60GB HD

His:
640MB RAM
APX
3hr battery
100GB 7200PM HD

Is this a good idea? Value/specs/will I be happy with it wise?

Personally, I wouldn't do it. The screen resolution on the 12" is much lower. Also, you lose the PC card slot should you ever need to use it.

I would only do it if you want to have a smaller, more portable machine. If that's not the case I would stick with what you already have.

I say go for it.

The resolution of the screen is not significantly less, and for that you get a machine that has 6x the battery life, a better wireless card, a faster&better hard drive and is something like 3" narrower, making it significantly more portable. Also you get a system that was not plagued by a guaranteed to fail hinge.

Sorry, guys. This thread could have been a lot more informative, but the bell rang. Anyway, I wouldn't mind having a small, portable machine.My other main machine (at mom's house) is a 12" iBook G4, and I would probably be using it with an external monitor when it was on my desk anyway, so that wouldn't be a problem. The first Mac I fell in love with was actually a 12" PB, so this is kind of a sentimental thing as well.

I am kinda attatched to this PB, so I dunno. The only feature I really like on the TiBook that the Little Al doesn't have is the PCMCIA USB2 card I have. Won't work in the 12" PB.

So, at this point, I have 2 questions:

Is this, value-wise,a good idea?
12" PB Owners: Do you love your Powerbook? Why is everyone mad that they killed the 12" PB? What's so great about 'em? No offense guys.

Value-wise, YES! The 12"PB is popular, and will remain popular, due to its small size. It appears that Apple now considers a 12" screen to be a "compromise" and will probably not be using it in another laptop. However, people still like the footprint size, and it will sell for more $$ than similarly equiped laptops for a long time to come. I had TWO 12" PowerBooks in my time, and I wish I would have held on to one of them. They are great little machines.

I agree: just in terms of resale value it makes sense... The 12" PB will continue to be worth a lot, especially after Apple showed that they won't create a true successor. I kinda miss my 12" PB, though I have moved on to greener pastures (check my sig).

I love my 12" PB. It is quite a bit slower them my MBP but so much more portable.... The keyboard is great for typing and the screen has a good enough resolution that I can do some Photoshop work with it. (It runs CS3 pretty well, though I have to make sure that nothing else is running with it).

I also agree with the above poster...I think the 12" models will hold value better.

Overall, it's a great little laptop. My only issue is that it does tend to run hotter after upgrading the hard drive to a 5400rpm.

Hmmm. I hope the 7200RPM drive in the one I was thinking of trading for doesn't run like a toaster!

I would check into that if I were you. Can you try it out before you trade? I remember reading a recent thread where someone said their 867 12" w/a 7200rpm drive kept getting so hot that it shut down. Mine has never shut down, though the fans do get a bit loud at times.

I also have an MBP, though, and that thing never gets above 40C so my opinion as to what constitutes hot could be slightly skewed...
