It's been an interesting couple of weeks. Outside of Apple in my personal life things keep going wrong. Just small things. It's kind of strange.
But enough about that.
Originally I pre-ordered an M4 Max MacBook Pro. I was trading in my M1 Max MacBook Pro with this order. The new MacBook arrived. It was damaged. So I returned it to an Apple Store, refunded, ordered replacement, trade in was cancelled on the original order and a new trade in was made on the new order.
I also ordered an M4 Mac mini. And I decided to trade in my iPad Pro on the order.
So the Mac mini and MacBook Pro arrive. This time everything is good. I organised a courier to pickup the iPad and MacBook for trade in. All is well.
After a couple of days I get an email stating my MacBook trade in value was reduced by half. There was no reason included in the email. I went and cancelled the trade in because I was not accepting that when the MacBook is in immaculate condition.
I then receive an email stating the iPad trade in was double in value...
The trade in centre mixed up my devices when processing the trade in.
Today I received back the iPad. I contacted Apple. There is nothing they can do. They can't manually reinstate a trade-in. Their advice was to trade in through the website. So I had a look with the customer service rep on the phone. Website trade in only offers gift cards for the devices value.
I told them the situation is ridiculous, that I'm out the trade in value of the iPad and there is nothing they can do about it.
I asked them to raise the situation as feedback and to include that the email received regarding the MacBook Pro valuation contained no reason to why it was devalued. The email should have clearly stated that they received an iPad for the trade in. And it would have been a simple call stating, they must have mixed things up.
This is mainly just me venting.
At least I have the iPad back. Guess it's going on eBay.
Thanks for listening.
