I'm surprised I'm this clueless and I dont want to sound like an idiot but I was curious if I could return my first gen iPhone and perhaps receive some money back for the rumored 3G, I know there is a small restocking fee which I'm willing to swallow but Im curious if Apple has done this for anybody else with any of their other products i.e. new laptops, desktops blah blah blah any advice, experiences would be extremely useful Thanks!! :)

a friend of mine offered to pay half for the iPhone for my birthday

:D

but i know i shouldnt take the money, it would be wrong..
wouldnt it?

its for birthday. maybe not if its 600$. take something though

:D
i told her that she has to give me less then half.
so if the iPhone is $1000AUD, instead of $500 i wont accept anything above $499.95.
muwhaha.

No, and (this isn't necessarily directed at OP) I don't see why so many people think having a first-gen iPhone is an entitlement to an upgrade deal. The only items I can think of that you get some sort of credit for and older model are cars. No tech company would make a dime if they gave older-model owners some sort of credit.

Aside: I just thought about "upgrade" software, but that's not hardware.

Anywho, to the people like the OP, if the AT&T subsidy rumors are true, I think you can take advantage of that if you haven't had one in the past 24 months with AT&T. Some other AT&T customers have posted on here that their account doesn't say the same, but mine is as if I never bought the iPhone (I can get a discount in September).

haha yeah thanks that makes sense, i figured hey a shot in the dark why not, regardless I know i will be getting the 3G and figured hey maybe I could save a bit of money oh well!
