Lot 23E. Somewhere in Georgia.
I preordered an 11 Pro Max and planned to sell my XS Max on Swappa. I’ve since changed my mind (prices are pretty low) and I’d like to do a trade in to credit to my purchase (I paid full price using the Apple Card).

Has anyone done this? I called Apple Support and the lady I talked to said she couldn’t do it but she believed that it might be possible to do in-store.

You should be able to do it on the spot, without advance arrangements. If your card hasn't already been charged, you should be able to apply it to the purchase price. The post above is right about the mechanics, which are a little goofy, but work just fine and take about 30 extra seconds.

I asked about this at the store and the salesperson told me we had 14 days to trade in our old phone and the value would be creditted back against the purchase. This makes sense as I could just return the phone during those 14 days and repurchase with a trade-in.

How did it turn out for you?

It worked for the most part. I had to explain what I was trying to do a couple of times and they couldn’t refund the money back to the Apple Card (They ended up putting the credit on my debit card, which was fine). But they did take care of it so I left the store happy.
