Hello,

So I have a Macbook Air 2017, Core i5 1.8, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD

I'm debating getting a trade-in from apple for a different laptop
So, my question is, which laptop do I go for?
- Macbook Air 2018
- Macbook with core m7
- Macbook Pro 2018 13"
- Macbook Pro 2017 13"

I also have a thinkpad P51 that I use for professional work outside of light classwork, which is what I use my Macbook for.

For reference, I primarily use my Macbook for MS Office, Web Browsing/Email, XCode, VSCode, and Eclipse

Thanks!

You're writing code on a Macbook Air? If you're using Xcode, then I'd recommend at least a Macbook Pro with a quad-core i5, preferably an i7. Your programs will compile a lot faster on that instead of the relatively anemic dual core Macbook Air. Now if you're just dabbling or doing small projects, then a Macbook Air might be OK, but for professional work I'd say go with a Pro.

A Macbook Pro with a quad core CPU will also be of benefit if you use Excel a lot.
