I'd like to purchase one of the new MacBook M1 Pro's, either the 14" or the 16" and get rid of an old iMac, a 2020 Intel MBP along with the purchase.
I have a contact at Apple who expects to be able to use his family discount on this device, which will be a very satisfying 15% discount, but I'd like to also be able to turn in and get credit for my two crappy devices.
Do you know how this is possible?

You can only do one trade in directly through your Apple friend. He can do this for w when he orders for you. You c an still trade in the other but.... you will only get a GIFT CARD. Suggest you do that one first at a store or on line but the store will be faster to get the gift card. Then you can use the gift card for your new purchase too but....you have to give that info to your Apple Friend. OR...sell the other machine to DeClutter or Gazelle. Enjoy! (I was an Apple Specialist for over 5 years so I know this stuff!)

So do I take it to the Apple store first to get the gift card? Or do I do it when he orders the new Mac for me?

Yes. You can take one to the apple store and get a gift card and then your friend can apply the gift card to your purchase. Some stores are not so cool about taking in a Mac for trade in and giving a gift card if you are not buying s new Mac there at the same time. SO, DeClutter or Gazelle can solve that problem....AND...they are very trust worthy. Suggest you ask your friend if you can trade in and get the gift card in his store.

Can you use gift cards on the employee friends and family discount?
