On Nov 23rd I found my M1 Max 16" at an Apple Store. I placed an order for it using the Apple Card's 1 year financing and a trade in. The trade in was to be mailed in, not brought with me to the store. I waited a week and never heard anything about a trade in, so I checked the order and there was a UPS tracking number that had since expired. I called in, the associate told me everything was fine, they'd just reorder the trade in kit. I waited a day and checked again there's a new tracking number with a delivery date. I kept checking, and the label was created, but never shipped. Called back again, went through that to more times. Finally got a manager to talk to (a TWO DAY callback) because now I'm getting messages about them not receiving the trade in and billing me for the difference.
Manager A says she will personally put in the request for the trade in kit but my options are to go to the store and trade it in and have them apply the gift card to the order retroactively or request a trade online and do the same, but it would take a lot longer. Again, I wait, the shipping label is created and again, it never leaves the warehouse. I call back again becasue now I've gotten an email saying it's the last week to get this taken care of and got a manager call back again (two days later).
This manager says the other one is wrong. They can't apply an Apple gift card to this order unless I do it in store. I can't send in the computer in my own packaging because it will get lost without barcodes and such. My only options are to continue to wait and hope something happens or take the computer in and do a refund and rebuy/trade on the spot. That assumes my Apple card has enough room to handle both transactions and that the value of the computer doesn't drop.
I'm at a loss for words. I don't know what to do at this point. My Apple card doesn't have a high limit for various reasons. If I return the computer I'd have to wait for that to clear before I could do it again, which would take several days and mean I end up waiting for another one to come in at the end of January.
Am I missing anything here? Has anyone else had trouble getting an Apple Trade In kit recently?
