Would such a trade in through Apple be possible, and would it offset the cost of the new M2 Imac when it comes out by a significant margin, would it be worth doing such a thing, if it is indeed possible?

Trade in M2 Mac Mini for M3 Imac

I would not. I bought and am using a 3rd party (Dell) 32” monitor and I don’t have enough desktop space for this monitor and a iMac. Now that I have been using a 32” monitor, it would be very painful to squeeze back to a measly 24” screen

What I am asking, is, what kind of price do you think it would be to trade in the M2 Pro Mac Mini for the M3 Imac, how much would I be expected to save when purchasing the M3 Imac, with that in place?

I would have to get enough cash back to cover the cost of the mini AND the Dell monitor I purchased with the mini. Plus a couple $100 extra to settle for the smaller 24” iMac screen (the extra would not be needed if the new M3 iMac had at least a 30” screen). That a lot 💰 so I strongly doubt it would happen.
If a “great offer” ended up cost me $1, I would still not do it. Not worth the hassle of transferring and setting up a new system

I am not asking about your setup. I am asking about the basic premise of off setting the cost of an M3 imac (which is as of yet unknown). I spent $1500 for my M2 Pro Mac Mini. I wonder if I would be able to get anywhere near that price through a trade in or selling it on ebay.
You can get an estimate for a trade in from Apple's website (https://www.apple.com/shop/trade-in).
Typically though, the offer is very low. If you're in your return window, return it. If not, selling it yourself will get you the best price. Going through Apple is simpler, but you're potentially throwing away a lot of money for that convenience.
