Is it worth it to use the trade in value of my MacBook Pro 2020 of $600 to get a MacBook Air. I recently just put money into the computer for a repair

I have a 2020 MBP (base model except for RAM upgraded to 16GB) and the base model M1 MBA.
The MBA is by far the better machine (unless you need Bootcamp). It’s faster, cooler, quieter (duh) and feels nicer to use overall.
600 seems… not a lot but then again, I’ve been trying to sell ihm MBP and the kind of person who would normally buy an MBP is probably aware of the M1 so I’ve not managed to sell it.
If you’re ok not getting more than 600 the I’d say it’s worth it.

I would say yes. The MBP you have would still be Intel right? The M1 Air will blow it clean out of the water. I charge my Air maybe once every 2 days, mostly just web browsing and Netflix.

You’re using it a lot/as your main computer then, I guess?
Mine is kind of a secondary machine and I use it in the evenings for one, maybe two hours. I go 1.5-2 weeks without charging. The battery life is crazy on that thing.

Yes, it is my main. Wife and I each have one. She sometimes goes 60+ hours without a charge. We have a single shared Photos library with 110k images (800GB) on an external T7 Samsung 2TB SSD connected directly with USB-C to USB-C. The Photos app opens instantly and flies. With that said, if anyone is worried about internal space (we have the 8RAM/256GB machines), save your money and just get that Samsung, you won't be sorry. I'm certainly not.
