The Clinton Archipelago unfortunately
I've done Apple trade-ins before, but a couple of weeks ago I bought a series 6 watch, I used a couple of Apple gift cards, then put the remaining (just under $200) on my Apple credit card.

Yesterday I got a notification that my $140 trade-in value for my Series 4 was confirmed and I would receive a credit on my credit card.

This morning Apple sent me an $80 gift card via email, quoting my order number for the watch.

I was expecting the entire refund on the credit card. What is the purpose of me using a gift card (one of them was for $80), just to get my gift card right back?

Is this normal? Can I get this fixed? I called Apple and lucky for me it's iPhone pre-order day and after 30 minutes, I finally talked to someone and the line cut out.

Contacting Apple is a good idea, but I'd recommend the chat option instead of phone if it's available in your country. It seems to stay connected better and then you've got a written record of the conversation too.

Thanks, I ended up getting them back on the phone. It was an 80 minute conversation, and they revoked the gift certificate and said they moved the refund to my card. Now I sit and wait to see it show up on my card.
