iPhone 13 Pro Max Trade-ins at Apple stores still?

Are we still able to take an old iPhone into an Apple store and do the whole trade in for gift card there? I have done that in the past and it's very convenient.

The last time I went into a store, I was told they take no trade-ins at all. Might be store specific though, because I have seen a lot of comments recently mentioning doing so . . .

I really hope that is the case, because I have an appointment tomorrow and would MUCH prefer doing the trade-in while I am there and not have to worry about shipping, etc.

I was c considering turning in an old phone, and it's not a box from Phbio any more. In my area at least, they give you a bunch of FedEx places to take it to, and they supposedly package it and send it to Apple for free.

My wife and I did over the last few weeks (me, yesterday) at an Apple Store in Southern California.
