I just received a new, unopened macbook pro with the glossy screen. Would Apple take this in on an upgrade to the HD anti-glare screen?

I currently have the matte finish on my old macbook pro. I'm giving this one to my wife. My fear with the new one....and I got it for a real good price, is that the glossy screen looks cheap, and it will be reflective and not show well in most different lighting situations.

If you purchased it from Apple then you could return it, get your money back and purchase the anti-glare one. If you purchased it anywhere else, no. Apple doesn't do trade-ins or trade-ups.

For questions like this, it's best to just go to an Apple store and see what happens. The official policy would probably be to deny such a request, but you never know the whims of the Apple store reps. If the box is unopened and you get a cooperative rep, you may be allowed to return for store credit if you let them know you'll be upgrading to a higher priced model.
