Hi,
I currently have a 2019 MBP 16" i9/16GB/1TB laptop - shows that I'd get about $990 CDN for it as of today from Apple Canada's Trade In website. I'm leaning towards getting an 2021 MBP 14" but nowhere has them in stock until August around me (including Apple).
So a few questions that hopefully someone can shed some light on:
1. Is $990 fair considering its really only 2 years old? Does the trade-in value drop at certain points of the year? IE: if new MB are being released soon, does it drop by a few hundred immediately?
2. I have AppleCare+ active for another year, I've heard rumours that we can get portions refunded if its still in effect and never used -- is this true?
3. I'm guessing that there won't be a refresh of the MBP 14/16" this year aside from internals (September?); is it worth just waiting until then?
While my 2019 MBP works without issue, compared to my work issued 2021 MBP 14; I'm shocked at how much slower, noisier, hotter, etc. that my 2019 is. I do some video editing (fly drones) and video conversion work aside from typical MS Office/Web work. While I know how much of a beast the 2021 MBP units are, wondering if I could get away with a 2021 MBA loaded up without hitting the base cost of a MBP -- or just not a great idea?
TIA! Much appreciated for any insights or thoughts.
