In regards to the $800 trade promo I am getting so many conflicting reports on if I can trade my phone in at the retail store or need to mail it back. Originally the store told me I could trade it in there. Both CS and chat rep say I can trade in store.

I had another issue last night and was on the phone with them and decided to ask again and they then told me I need to mail it in and can’t bring to store. I called back after to speak to someone different and obviously got a different answer.

Went to two stores today. One of them told me I need to mail it and they wouldn’t process it there. The other store (which was original store that told me I could trade in there) tells me if I bought it online it needs to be sent online and if I bought it in store it can be traded at store. Luckily another employee chimed in and claimed the promos can actually be traded in at store.

What is the definitive answer? Why does do I get a different answer from AT&T every time I called.

You can absolutely do it in store. Perhaps it needs to be a corporate store. You are getting different answers because carriers hire morons to work for them.

So what to do if store refuses trade in?

My understanding is you can bring them to a corporate store. I will definitely be doing that this weekend. I have had really awful experiences with mailing trade-ins to them in the past (they lose track of them on their end and I spent hours on the phone trying to resolve it).

Im going to a plain old regular ATT store saturday to turn in 2 iPhone X's. I called them today and they said they could take them and give us receipts. Better work!
