i've had my ATT iPhone 5 listed for trade on craigslist for a while now (NYC area) and have gotten nothing but scammers and people wanting to trade GS4s. I want to switch over to verizon from ATT since i work for VZW and get a nice discount. is there any other avenues i should try to trade my phone that I'm not thinking of?

You will get lots of scammers and people wasting your time on CL but eventually someone decent will show up.
I'd just sell it and then buy a Verizon iphone cause those are tricky. if the other person that wants to give you his Verizon iphone didn't pay their bill or account got shut off you'd be stuck with a useless iphone that cannot be activated again on VZ.
Also there's the trade in for cash places like gazelle, gamestop etc...
A lot less hassle with those but a little less money too.
