I've found that sometimes the 'traffic light' buttons for closing, minimising and maximising windows aren't working, does this happen to anyone else?

It can be really annoying, I need to sort of move the pointer around then hit them a few times, it's certainly not a slow computer either, brand new MBP.

I've read about this before, but never got a solution.

Anyone?

Make sure "Enable access for assisitive devices" is unchecked in the Accessibility pane of System Preferences.

Otherwise, have you installed third-party utilities/prefpanes that run in background?

For some reason that was checked in accessibility, no idea why?

Can you tell me why that effects the traffic light buttons?

No other stuff installed, new install of ML.

I don't think that's supposed to be checked by default. I had manually checked mine because some app (MarcoPolo) required it, but I have no idea what it technically does. I had the same problem as you following checking this option and it took me months to find people who had the same problem and figure out the origin of the problem. It seems to be a bug, I originally had this problem with Lion and visibly it's still the same in ML.

It seems to happen with safari tabs too.

I've unchecked that option and I don't seem to have had the same problems yet, though it's sporadic.
And I agree, it's a very tough problem to even google for.
