Since the Apple Watch won't have GPS built in I was wondering if it would be possible for the Apple Watch to "learn" your stride. Basically I am wondering if you could wear the Apple Watch and take your iPhone on a few runs or walks. During that time the GPS from the iPhone would track your precise distance. It would also reference that with the Apple Watch data from about your stride and match it up. Then after a few runs/walks the Apple watch would be able to predict your distance without GPS much better than before. That way you wouldn't have to take your phone with you on a run if you didn't want to. If you did happen to take it with you it would refine the data and make it better each time. Maybe an app such as Runkeeper could then allow you to take the Apple Watch data and sync it up with a pre-made route.
Possible? Plausible? basically like setting up Touch ID, but with movement.
Thanks!
Robert
