iPod touch Transfer Backup to new mac?

Sorry Im on the mobile forum and cant find a search feature. How can I go about transfering apps and data to my new mac? iTunes wants to annihilate my ipods memory and replace it - ive spent some cash on apps - are there links to any guides or do i have to buy software?

Have you signed into your itunes on your new Mac?

I'm thinking your apps and stuff should be on there. Any purchased music will be there too; there is software to take any 'un' purchased music on there to your new computer.
