I had to give my macbook pro to my son who dropped his down a flight of stairs. (Klutz!)

I backed up my data including ipad apps to an external hard drive.

Can someone point me in a direction of instructions that show me how to transfer all of my data back to another macbook pro from the external drive.

thanks

when setting up your new mac, do a full restore of your time machine backup, then open itunes, go to the itunes store and activate your new mac, that's it.

if you do not have a time machine backup proceed as follows:

1. delete the itunes folder under user/music on your new mac
2. copy the itunes folder from your external disc to user/music on your new mac
3. start itunes and go to the itunes store activate your new mac
