Transfer iPhoto library from Macbook to iMac? Can i Copy and Paste folder?

Ok i have about 4gb of photos in iPhoto on my Macbook, Just got a iMac yesterday and want to have all those photos on my iMac in iPhoto.

I know i can export each folder but thats takes time.

Can i Copy and Paste the actually iPhoto folder from my Macbook Pro and paste it to my iMac and over write the current iPhoto folder? ( there are ZERO pictures on my iMac at the moment )

seems likes the easiest way, will this work? or how do i need to do it?
