Transfer Lion to SD Card, Install on iMac ???

So if you have an Air, is it possible to find the Lion installer, copy it to an SD Card, and then put the SD card in say, an iMac, and install Lion there?

I saw a guide on how to backup Lion to a CD, but since this wouldn't work since the Air doesn't have a superdrive, an SD card is cheaper than buying a drive.
