Transfer music to iOS without computer

Most of my music does not come from itunes. Is it possible to put music on an iOS device without synching with iTunes? This would make my iPad truly pc-free

Where is the music currently? If it is on a computer, then you use iTunes to put it on the iPad. It doesn't need to come from the iTunes store.

Yep. But it seemed to me that he was just trying to avoid syncing with iTunes.
