Price?

I want to do this also except transfer out of my moms name into mine since I pay the bill anyway. It mentions if the features you currently have are no longer offered you'll have to pick a new plan... Stopped me dead in my tracks, sounds like a great way to lose unlimited data...

If you go to the ATT account page, after you have signed in, there is a place right there to do it. I think I saw it on the right side.

Keep in mind, you are not just selling the account, you are selling the PHONE number as well.

All contracts, unlimited data plans, etc go with the phone number. Not the account. Not the phone.

can someone confirm that after transfering the acct/number, the unlimited data remains with the new owner?

Yes, only if you call AT&T 800 number and Authorize the transfer under their name and then tell them to go to a AT&T retail store and do the transfer of billing in store. This is how I transfered this account from my dad to my name without losing unlimited data.

I've spent a good deal of time with the customer service reps of AT&T in the past week with this issue. I talked both to the online chat and the "special" TOBR center. Both told me that once the new account is setup I would lose the unlimited plan. Funny thing is, the online account is under my name as well as the credit card used to pay the bills. Maybe poster #9 can provide a few more details on how they accomplished this. Ive exhausted my efforts.

Yes, when I called the transfer of billing responsibility they would give me the run around and claim I would lose unlimited data so that's why I never proceded. Then I went to a local AT&T store and asked her can I transfer an account with unlimited data to my name within losing unlimited data? She said, "Sure, just call AT&T to authorize the person you want to take over the line and tell them to go to a local AT&T store and you're here to do a transfer of billing of responsibility. Just mention you would like to transfer the unlimited data. I had to call a couple of stores to make sure I was talking to someone that has done one of these unlimited data transfers before and knew what I was talking about.

Okay, recap:

The only way to transfer unlimited data on AT&T is to call 611 and tell the 611 rep you want to authorize him or her tell them to put a note onto the account so that the AT&T store can read it. Don't do any billing transfer on the phone, only call to notate the persons name you want to transfer. Tell them your AT&T store told you to call in to notate the persons name you want to take over the account.

if you transfer billing responsibility you will loose your unlimited data. the new account owner will need to choose from a list of current plans.

Yes, I was on AT&T for a while and transferred out of a friend's plan and I lost unlimited data. You won't be able to take it to the new plan...

Need help please!

Hi, I am actually being offered AT&T Unlimited data plan, off-course for money. Question is what is the safest and guaranteed way to transfer the line in my name from the seller without losing the unlimited data feature. Considering the above post relates to last year. Now AT&T website states clearly that feature not available, can someone please provide valuable guidance of how to proceed and step by step procedure.

Thanks in advance.

You can't transfer unlimited data on AT&T with a AOL.
