Transfer photos from computer to icloud photo library

In itunes you can select a number of folders from your computers to sync with ios Photos. But once you enable icloud photo library all the photos you had in your iphone transfered from your computer are deleted.

My question is: how can you transfer photos that were NOT taken with the iphone, from your computer for example, to icloud photo library?

Transfer your photos to an app using iTunes. I use rollit. Then save to camera roll. All photos will be added to iCloud.

You can also use AirDrop for transferring them from computer to iPhone.
