I transfered my sms messages from my old phone via bitpim and have them saved to my computer, and was wondering how i would go about transferring them to my (verizon )iPhone

The SMS files are located in the root, and you can't get to root without a JB.
Also, you have to have an SMS.db file for the iphone to be able to read it.

Would it be enough just to export them to a txt or doc file and put them in DropBox? Then you could view them any time you want, they just wouldn't actually be in the texting app. (DropBox is one of those cloud storage services with client apps for PCs, Macs and iOS. I use it all the time on my iPod.)

That'd be a suitable alternative, but id still prefer to have them in my messages.
