Hi,

I will be getting a new External HDD for Time Machine backups soon. I was wondering if it is possible to transfer my current backups on my current External HDD, to my new external HDD. I would really hate to lose all of my current backups, so if anyone knows how to do this, I would really appreciate your help!

Thanks,

Don

Try cloning the drive using Carbon Copy Cloner or Superduper. Once the clone is complete, you can always test it by plugging in the new drive and restoring an old file from time machine.

Open Disk Utility then click on the TM drive> Restore> Original TM as Source>then New TM drive as Destination> hit restore.. done

That might work too. Isn't that just cloning the drive from disk utility?

Thank You so much! I have like 9 months of backups, and it would really suck id I lost them. I'll try your suggestions when I get my new external.

Thanks!
