I have an eMac and the apple video adapter. I want to transfer some home movies on VHS to DVD. Is this something i shoud just do in iMovie? Basically i was going to hookup the vcr to the eMac through the video adapter... then the next step is lost to me.

Ummm, which Apple Video Adaptor?

This one?

That's an output - only thing... it will not input signals to the eMac

If you have an Elgato EyeTV or a Canopus or a Datavideo analog - DV conversion box that's OK.

If not, you need one of these approx. $200 external devices to turn VHS signals into DV files through Firewire. Of, if you can get the use of a MiniDV Camera, many of these have analog inputs and can pass through the signal being played into them through the Firewire DV port.
