transfer video from camera to macbook

i've been trying to figure this out, the only thing i can do is transfer the pictures, i have a usb cable connected from my canon to the macbook, can someone help

once you connect your camera, open up iphoto and you'll see your camera listed on the side. if you click on it, you should be able to pick whatever movie you got on it.
