Transfer videos from a Sony to a MAC Help!

I have a Sony HandyCam Hard Disk Drive Model Number DCR-SR42 and cannot seem to load videos from it to my MAC laptop (pre leopard addition). I have lost the manuel for the handycam, so that is of no help. I have tried everything I know how to do..PLEASE HELP.

Been there done that

Already looked up the manuel and followed the directions and it still didn't work. I am hoping to find someone who can tell me step by step. Thanks!

What version of iMovie do you have on your system? You might need iMovie '08 (also known as iMovie 7) to capture video from that camcorder model. If you are covered under AppleCare or have an Apple Retail location near you, you can either call in to 1-800-275-2273 for the iApps department at AppleCare or bring your laptop and camcorder into the retail store to see if a Mac Genius technician can't help you out.
