Transfering Apple Mail to new machine

Hey,

How would i transfer all my mail/accounts etc to a new machine? I have a old laptop running 10.4 and expecting a new macbook pro any day now.

I see there is an import feature.. but when i tried this on a parents computer it just imported them in a folder :S

Any tips/advice would be great!

Migration Assistant is built in to OS X and is usually the best way to go.
