I wasn't aware of the fact that there was a way to export firefox bookmarks until AFTER I formatted my hard drive. However, I backed things up in Time Machine first. Is there a way to somehow get my old bookmarks or is it a lost cause?
Try opening~/Library/application support/firefox/ in Time Machine. Should be html file. I dont have my Mac now so I cant replicate exact steps but I copied my bookmarks before I got rid of my old Mac few weeks ago.
This might help too: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Backing_up_and_restoring_bookmarks_-_Firefox.
Good luck!

You have to go to the Library folder in your account user profile and not the main hard drive folder. While in Time Machine your user account should be on the left under Places. It's the name you use when you setup your computer for the first time.
