transfering from canon to streamclip

I'm opening up a vid with a canon fs20 and i don't see all the clips from the canon icon. when i do drag and drop in to streamclip it only sees 1 portion from the canon. When attached I can't do anything with the camera. Do i have to make some kind of playlist first?
