Transfering iPhone/iPad Apps to another iTunes Account?

I had to get rid of my iTunes account with which I downloaded/paid for a couple dozen or so apps. It was a work account and I changed jobs, so I cannot resurrect the old iTunes account (work credit card issue). How do I have the apps transfer, on the same iPhone, of course, to be able to update the apps on my new iTunes account? I don't want to have to purchase them again just to stay up to date.
